This is an article I wrote for Etch Magazine a few months ago, thought it may bring a bit of inspiration to your day :)

“Individuals who choose to see the positives in life attract other positive individuals to them because they increase joy wherever they go.”

- Nick Bogatin

So, I’m not exactly sure who Nick Bogatin is, (a quick google search didn’t determine much) but from the way he speaks he sounds like a very smart man. Positive energy is infectious and sustainable. Why would you choose to see the negative in things, when there is always a positive side? Obviously some things are going to get you down every now and then, but overall, wouldn’t life be much easier if you just chose to be positive on a daily basis?

Positive people are like magnets. You can spot them a mile away, and they are always high energy, drawing people towards them and having a good time. Their ability to smile and let things slide may make you envious, or perhaps leave you baffled – but take a leaf out of their book. Try, for one day, not to get hung up on the negative things that come into your reality. Negative energy is such a drain to your spirit. As soon as you focus on the negatives then life just becomes so much harder. You notice that you are tired, that what you have to do is hard, and you certainly don’t have enough time in one day to complete everything on your to-do list.

But, have you ever noticed how positive people seem to be in perfect control of their lives? The to-do list is never too hard, they may be super busy but everything is handled with the utmost precision and certain air of calmness. People who see life and its hurdles as an exciting journey, increase their level of excitement wherever they go. Your reality is completely created by you. It is a manifestation of your inner thoughts and desires. How you want to view the world, is exactly how the world will present itself to you. Choose to see it in a positive and exciting way, and it shall be positive and exciting!

I don’t want to regurgitate a self-help book here. I don’t want to tell you to write down a list of ten things you love about yourself, and repeat that list while looking at yourself in the bathroom mirror every morning. All I am suggesting is for you to smile. Think of something that makes you smile, a happy memory that feels like a nice, warm secret, that brings that enjoyable smiling feeling to your face. Relish that. Remember that feeling. Now try sustaining it for an entire day. The longer you can remain positive, and engage with people and tasks in a positive manner, the easier it will be for you to maintain this feeling as your normal, neutral state. Why should neutral not be above-averagely-happy?

Imagine if every individual on the planet was in a constant state of positive energy. The state of the planet would be in a much better shape than it is today. The energy of the world would rise, and we would all buzz with good vibes. Everyday interactions would be a joy, no one would bitch and moan about their menial jobs; everyone would be doing what they enjoyed – and guess what, the world wouldn’t end. In fact, I believe that the world would rise into a higher consciousness, and that it would function in a more effective way. The environment, and the spiritual beings inhabiting it, would all flourish and grow beneficially.

So what do you have to do? Turn your day into a positive one. Smile at a stranger in the street. Change your mind-set. Turn the ‘too-hard’ basket upside down and put a new label on it; ‘so-awesome’. Think about the things in your life that are amazing, and try and make everything in your life amazing. Be grateful for what you do have, and strive to attain what you still want. But, with every step you take, smile, and try to make the world a better place.
