So I went down to Lemongrass House on Ponsonby road, a bit nervous actually, ready to interview Brett (the owner). Unfortunately, Brett had his days mixed up (I found out it was his birthday, so I hold no grudges!). Instead, I got to chat to his lovely sales-girl, Anneliese. Here’s how my conversation with her went…

How long has LGH been around?

The shop itself only opened about 4-6 weeks ago. The product has just been brought to New Zealand from Thailand.

Editor’s note: after receiving some background info on LGH from Brett via email, it turns out that the products have actually been selling around the world for 13 years.

How did LGH happen to come to New Zealand?

Brett and Blair went on a trip to Thailand, discovered this beautiful product and fell in love with it!

What makes LGH special?

Each product relies on the quality and concentration of essential oils and specialised hand blending.  All ingredients are derived from safe, renewable resources. They contain no animal ingredients and are not tested on animals.  All are handmade in Thailand. They are not completely organic, but they do have quite a short shelf life, about 3 months.

Are the products good and safe for everyone?

The LGH products are good for everyone – they have no crap in them! If someone comes in and they have really sensitive skin, I will put them on to the kids’ range, which is obviously gentler.

So, you like the sounds of handmade, aromatherapy based body products? Want to try some for yourself? Head down to 95b Ponsonby Road and have a browse, if nothing else, Anneliese makes some good quality chit-chat for half an hour or so! Lemongrass House are also opening a new store in Milford in September, and you can check out their website at www.lemongrasshouse.co.nz.
